Red House wins Owia Gov’t Sports Meet

The Owia Government School held its Annual Inter-house Athletics Meet at the Owia Community Playing Field on Friday, February 3, 2012.{{more}}

The events saw athletes from Green House, Yellow House and Red House compete in various categories ranging from the Preschool level to Grade 6.

Prior to Sports Day the houses competed in a Road Relay from Point Village to the School ground, and a netball competition.

The Sports Day began at 9:00 a.m and ended at 3:p.m. It concluded with Red House winning with a total of 296 points, followed by Yellow House with 196 points and Blue House with 179 points.

The most outstanding male and female athletes in the individual races were recognized.

Allason Lavia of Blue House was awarded the Victor Ludorum for winning 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal. Junecia Hamlet of Red House emerged as the Victrix Ludorum for her performance, winning a total of five gold medals for the day.

The Sports Day was sponsored by Sprotts Distributors Ltd. The Owia Government School expresses a heartfelt thank you to Sprotts Distributors Ltd and its Manager Claude Fletcher for acknowledging the importance of sports in the lives of young people. The school also congratulates all the athletes who participated in its sports day activities, as well as, the members Owia community who helped in making the event a success.
