This, after the academy, last Tuesday, unveiled a Robo-Pong Table Tennis machine at the Old Anglican School Annex.

The electronically operated apparatus can dispense 200 balls per minute, and can serve the balls at different angles.

Additionally, the apparatus can assist players in improving their various techniques, such as loops and side spins.

Head of the SSTTA, in demonstrating the machine to the local media, said that it will certainly aid in the development of the members of the academy, especially the youngsters.

He said the machine can be adjusted to change the speed of the ball, according to the skill level of the player.

Stanley revealed that the machine, which cost US$600, has been installed at the opportune time, as his academy is set to host a contingent of Under-20 players from Barbados from March 16 to 18.

Stanley said the Barbadians will compete against local players, especially from the SSTTA.

The SSTTA has been in operation for the past four years.

The academy came into being after Stanley, then President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association, resigned from his post, effective December 31, 2007.(RT)
