GHS, SVGS forge ahead in Relay Classics


The Girls’ High School and the St Vincent Grammar School forged ahead in the female and male categories of the Relay Classics put on by Team Athletics SVG last Saturday at the Grammar School Playing Field.{{more}}

In the female segment, the Girls’ High School totaled 198 points. The Bethel High School compiled 124 points, with the Buccament Bay Secondary, 106 points.

The Kingstown Preparatory School, which won the 2011 edition, secured 88 points and the Thomas Saunders Secondary, 50.

Among the males, the St Vincent Grammar School amassed 140 points, leaving behind the X- Cel club in second with 108 points.

The St. Martin’s Secondary and the Kingstown Preparatory School, were both locked on 94 points, to be joint third. In fifth spot was the Bethel High School with 85 points.

Ten female and sixteen male outfits were represented in the highly charged day’s activities, which saw the technical staff of Team Athletics SVG putting to good use the newly acquired photo finish and electronic timing device.

Among the events which were run off were the 4 x 100 m, the 4 x 200 m, the 4 x 400 m, the Swedish Relay and the Distance Relay.

Competitors ran in the Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Over-19 and Veterans categories for both sexes. (RT)
