One of the high points of the national Track and Field Programme, the Relay Classics, will see 41 events being decided.

Competition will be in the Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Over-19, and Veterans categories for both sexes.

The Under-11’s will contest the 4 x 100 and Medley Relays, while the Under-13’s face off in the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 200 m.

The Under 15’s contest the 4 x 100, the 4 x 200 and the Swedish Relay, in which the first leg runs 100 m, the second 200 m, the third 300 m and the anchor leg, 400 m.

The other age categories will show off their wares in the 4 x 100, the 4 x 400 and the Swedish Relay.

Also down on the programme is the Open Distance Relay, which will kick start the proceedings.

TASVG is insisting that all competitors be registered with a club or school.

At the local governing body’s Presentation and Awards Ceremony last month, TASVG’s Games Secretary, Rawlson Morgan revealed the move to have all athletes in St. Vincent and the Grenadines registered with a club or with TASVG.

Tomorrow’s Relay Classics follow on the heels of the first mini meet for 2012, which was staged at the Grammar School Playing Field, last Saturday.

Prior to that, TASVG hosted a Throwing Classic, as local athletes gear up for the local, regional and international engagements.

The Kingstown Preparatory School is the reigning National Relay Classics champions, having taken the 2011 edition, then staged at the Victoria Park.(RT)
