Maple, into its 61st year of existence, and debutants in the tournament, captured both the League and Knock Out titles in Division One, with the latter being formalised on Sunday.

Led by its top Goal Shooter Skiddy Francis- Crick, who poured in 55 of her 65 tries, and Goal Attack Thelma Foster, who scored 5 of her 9, Maple, romped to a 60-38 triumph over Gairy Construction ASCO. For the runners up, Rochelle Franklyn replied with 36 of her 49 attempts at scoring, and Kelly Ann Stephens struck 3 of 5.

Maple, the reigning OECS Club Champions, had earlier in the tournament won the league title, but it was on goal differential over CC’s Crystals.

To add to the good, Maple was named the tournament’s Most Disciplined Team.

Francis-Crick, as she has done throughout her long career, was the top goal shooter, netting 154 goals from 174 attempts, an accuracy average of 88.5 per cent.

Mishica Williams of Crystals was voted the Best Centre Court Player.

And, in a repeat of the 2010 awards, Bownie Allicott of Gairy’s Construction, was adjudged the Best Defensive Player, and the Tournament’s overall Most Valuable Player.

Allicott, at the 2011 OECS Under-23 Netball Tournament in St. Kitts, won the Most Valuable Player accolade.

The Most Valuable Player in each of the Division One teams was awarded.

Maple’s MVP was Saska Diamond, with CC’s Crystals recipient being Mishica Williams. For ASCO Two, it was Nicole Sandy- Stevenson, with Bownie Allicott taking the award for Gairy Construction ASCO and Daryl Franklyn for the all male team, Pace Setters.(RT)
