Prospect stretches hold on Calliaqua Football title


GTM Prospect United re-registered their possessory title last Sunday evening under the lights at the Calliaqua Playing Field, claiming a Football title for another time.{{more}}

Playing in yet another final, Prospect resisted the little opposition thrown at them by Karibbean Tires Max Strikers, as they strolled by an uncomplicated 4-1 victory and $1500 to the good.

A brace by Josh De Grads, and one each from Reginald Payne and Randolph Williams, winded the youthful Max Strikers, who at times looked a spirited bunch.

Ronnie Thompson registered the lone item for Max Strikers, in the second stanza, as he cut the lead, after Payne and De Grads had netted the first of his two in the first period of play.

In reaching the finals, Prospect had downed Choppins 4-2 in the semi finals, and Max Strikers ousted Glen 5-4 on penalties. This, after both teams had played a 2-2 tie in regulation time last Saturday.

Prospect, the runner up in the Premier Division of the 2010-2011 National Lotteries Authority National Club Championships, must be establishing a record of their own in local Football, with their perennial claims on the Calliaqua Football League for some time now. (RT)
