This was announced on December 3, by Human Resource Manager of the St Vincent and the Grenadines branches of RBTT Bank Caribbean Limited Noel Dickson.
Speaking at the Annual Awards and Presentation Ceremony of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket association, at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, Dickson said: âWe have decided that we will reposition ourselves as we continue to support sports, particularly Cricket, by putting our support where the need is considered greatest. In this context, we are pleased to announce that we will continue to support and sponsor cricket in SVG, and have decided that having brought the Premier Division to where it is, with all the successes it has harvested, we will put our sponsorship towards the development of our women cricketers.â
Dicksonâs announcement was met by a ripple of applause from those present.
Dickson, in explaining the switch of focus, stated, âWe believe the womenâs cricket in this country has great potential and have chosen to support the energizing female cricketers. We have absolutely no doubt that this will provide the impetus for more of our women to become involved in playing Cricketâ.
With RBTT taking over the sponsorship of the Womenâs competition, the National Lotteries Authority will be the sole sponsor of the Premier Division, the First Division and the Neil Williams Twenty/20 Competition.
The National Lotteries joined the fray earlier this year by taking hold of the First Division, replacing Bottlers St Vincent Limited, and was joint sponsor, along with RBTT, of the Premier Division.
The NLA has been sponsoring the T/20 Competition for the past four years.(RT)
