Grenadian left arm orthodox spinner Denis George got a big birthday gift, when he bagged 8 for 20, last Saturday at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, against St. Lucia, in the Windwards Senior two-day Cricket Competition.{{more}}

George, who celebrated his 28th birthday on that day, wrecked St. Lucia for 75, in response to his team’s 140.

West Indies fast bowler Nelon Pascal assisted George with 2 for 22.

Grenada’s Tade Carmichael, who topscored with 45, Devon Smith with 36 and Pascal, who made 25, were the main scorers.

Bowling for St. Lucia, Alex Antoine picked up 4 for 34 and Garey Mathurin 3 for 42.

Grenada was 43 for 2 at the close, in a match which was severely affected by rain, allowing just over two hours of play on day one, Friday.

In the other match, host and defending champions St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica ended in a ‘no decision’, as rain fell for much of the duration of the match.

Dominica batted first and scored 200 for 9 declared. Junior Jervier, batting at number 7, struck 70. Ray Casimir scored 35, and Liam Sebastian hit 31 .

St. Vincent and the Grenadines was 149 for 5, when bad light stopped play. Sunil Ambris 53 was not out. Salvan Browne scored 37 and Miles Bascombe 34. Shane Shillingford took all five wickets for 64.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines engaged St. Lucia at Arnos Vale One and at Arnos Vale Two, Grenada took on Dominica, as the second round of matches was set to finish yesterday, Monday.

The third and final round is slated for tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday, when St. Vincent and the Grenadines plays Grenada at Arnos Vale One and Dominica faces St. Lucia at Arnos Vale Two.(RT)
