President of the local Football body confirmed this to SEARCHLIGHT last Saturday, but dispelled rumours that a replacement has already been determined.

Coombs reiterated that while Rowe has formally resigned, in accordance with his three-year contract, he had to serve the SVGFF with five months notice.

Rowe, who has been on the job for nine months, tendered his resignation on November 15, hours after St. Vincent and the Grenadines lost to Belize 2-0, in their return leg of their Group E match in the CONCACAF Group of the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.

Coombs said that since Rowe’s resignation, several applications have come to the SVGFF’s secretariat in respect of the job.

“The executive is receiving applications from several persons, but a decision has not been made,” Coombs asserted.

Apart from Rowe’s substantive post of Technical Director, he was also the Head Coach.

Coombs, who took up the top post on September 24, said that his executive will be separating the two positions.

“We are looking for a Technical Director, one who will organise a strategic plan, assist in the development of our Football with the Grassroot programme, youth development and develop our coaches,” Coombs said.

Rowe as Technical Director was to have been paid US$6,000 per month in the first year, with increases in the second and third years.

Additionally, he was given free housing, a vehicle, a $300 petrol allowance per month, among other benefits.

Coombs said that while they are shopping around, the senior national team will be involved in regular training sessions, as they endeavour to keep the unit intact and active.
