TBPO Softball Cricket Competition reaches Semi-finals


The National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation Softball Cricket Competition has reached its semi-final stage.{{more}}

The first of the semi-finals takes place on Sunday, from 11:00 a.m., at the competition’s venue, the Dauphine Playing Field, when Nice Radio Clinchers meet either RSVG Police or Bank of SVG All Stars.

Police and All Stars are due to meet in the last of the Quarter Finals, on Saturday from 1:30 pm.

The second semi-final pits CMG Novice versus Simple Boyz, from 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Last weekend, Novice advanced to the semi-finals with a comfortable five-wicket win over Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem.

Batting first, Nar Fren Dem posted 129 for 5, with Keno Matthews making 59 and Glenford Woodley 21.

Novice, on the back of 39 from Roderick John and 31 by Kenroy Martin, responded with 131 for 5. Kevin Harry, 3 for 19 and Kenford Collins, 2 for 33, shared the wickets for Nar Fren Dem.

Novice’s semi-final opponents, Simple Boyz, stopped Computec Older Boys by 48 runs, to reach the last four.

Simple Boyz got to 120 all out. Travis Cumberbatch scored 29; Oswald Soleyn 22, and Desron Maloney and Casmond Walters 20 each.

Rohan King with 4 for 9 and Junior Bacchus, 3 for 24, were Older Boys’ most successful bowlers.

Older Boys’ innings ended at 72. Eldon Morris 3 for 6, Kenroy Hunte 3 for 26 and Stein Joseph 2 for 18, shared the bulk of the wickets for Simple Boyz.

And, Clinchers posted 114 for 9, batting first against ASCO. Oheyan Toby was the principal scorer with 31. Rajiv Roberts took 2 for 11, Damien Chance 2 for 17 and Osbourne Franklyn 2 for 18, bowling for ASCO.

In reply, ASCO fell for 41. They were undone by the bowling of Javon Nero with 4 for 12, Peter Richards 3 for 8 and Curlan John 2 for 4. (RT)
