Rain ruins Saturday’s gameplay of SVG Masters Cricket Tournament

All of Saturday’s scheduled matches in the SVG Masters Cricket Competition were rained out.{{more}}

However, when the clouds cleared on Sunday, and play was possible, the weather allowed St. Vincent Co-operative Bank P’ tani and Log Enterprises Kingstown to chalk up wins at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.

P’tani defeated La Croix by 66 runs in a game reduced to 17-overs-a-side after an interruption for rain. P’ tani batted first and compiled 132 for 3 from their 17-overs. Jerome Samuel topscored with 54 not out. Ray La Borde contributed 29. Calvin Ottley was the pick of the La Croix bowlers, taking 2 for 38.

In reply, La Croix laboured to 66 for 2 from their maximum 17 overs, with Wendell Parris hitting 29.

Then it was the turn of Kingstown to beat North Leeward Combined by 27 runs.

Batting first, Kingstown got to 134 for 8 off 20 overs. Bradley Brooker struck 34, Winsbert Springer hit 26, Joseph Carrington, 23, and Hollis John, 20.

Kenneth Lewis, Walliston Stapleton and Federal Jeffery each took two wickets, bowling for North Leeward Combined.

In response, North Leeward Combined managed 107 for 9 from their 20 overs. Lennox Douglas stroked 26, as Joseph Medford grabbed 3 for 17, and Tyrone Walker, 2 for 11, bowling for Kingstown. (RT)
