Francois gets another appointment
Local Football referees assessor Clemroy âBertâ Francois is being sought after to officiate on the regional Football scene.{{more}}
Francois got his second call up in three months, when he oversaw the Trinidad and Tobago versus St. Kitts and Nevis encounter yesterday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, in Group B of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-17 qualifiers.
Under Francoisâ scrutiny were Referee Sabina Charles Kirton of St. Lucia; Assistant Referee one, Clifton Garmes of Barbados; Assistant Referee two, Cynette Jeffrey of Guyana; and fourth official, Deborah Zebeda of Suriname.
Trinidad and Tobago had mauled the Kittians 11-0 in the first leg.
The winner of the tie will meet Jamaica, the Bahamas and Guyana in the second round, with the top three teams advancing to the CONCACAF Under-17 Championships in 2012.
Three teams from the CONCACAF Finals go forward to the 2012 FIFA Finals set for Azerbahjan.
Francois was also chosen three months ago, in the same capacity, in the Womenâs Olympic Qualifiers Preliminary Competition of the Caribbean Zone, which took place in Aruba, from the end of June to early July. The group involved Cuba, Haiti, Suriname and host Aruba.
Francois is the most decorated Vincentian referee, having officiated in major CONCACAF tournaments as well as in Olympic Qualifiers.
Francois has since retired from active practice, but is used as a resource person for various refereesâ courses in the region. (RT)
