Foster was given another stamp of approval when the organisation hosted its 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Thursday evening, at the Gomea Methodist Church Hall.

Foster, speaking to SEARCHLIGHT, said that it is an honour that people have the confidence in his ability.

“People see me as a community leader, so once I make myself available, I will be elected,” Foster said with confidence.

Foster revealed his organisation’s main plans for the upcoming year.

“This year we will be focussing on membership, as we have a lot of persons who represent ASCO in Cricket and Netball, but they do not participate in the organisation”, Foster stated.

“What we want to do is get them involved in the organisation and train them to become leaders,” he further added.

ASCO stages its annual Netball and Softball competitions as part of its main activities, but Foster said that his Executive will be looking into the revival of a Spelling Bee Competition, which was staged a few years ago.

In carrying through with the proposals, Foster will have as his Vice President Holly Ann Franklyn, a newcomer to the Executive, who was elected unopposed.

Andrea Cupid remains in her position as Secretary, as she was re-elected unopposed for the third consecutive year.

Likewise, the posts of Assistant Secretary, which was filled by Daryl Franklyn, and that of Treasurer, which is occupied by Veta Franklyn, did not need a vote, as they were installed unopposed.

Diane Questelles, who lost her position as Vice President, is the new Public Relations Officer (PRO). She had no contest, as she was the only person nominated for that position.

Questelles will perform her duties, as well as that of PRO of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association.

Three Committee Members were also elected at last Thursday’s meeting. They are Leon Chandler, Claudette Questelles and Solomie Farrell.

These were the only positions by which votes were used to determine the personnel.

The AGM formed part of the club’s 21st anniversary celebrations.

This year’s celebrations were held under the theme: “We’re blessed with 21 years of steady progress.”

With the week of celebrations out of the way, ASCO is preparing to host its Netball Competition, which is set to begin on Sunday, October 8, at the Gomea Methodist School hard-court.(RT)
