NLA TBPO Softball on the move
The 2011 edition of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisatiom Softball T/20 Cricket Competition began in earnest last Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field, after Saturdayâs fixtures were rained out.{{more}}
When the action began, Clinchers eased past Macâ s East Bank by six wickets.
Ronald Medford hit a topscore of 15, as East Bank reached 80 all out in 13. 5 overs. Okeefe Andrews with 2 for 7, Savan Nero, 2 for 9 and Hezron Toby, 2 for 23, shared the bowling honours for Clinchers.
In response, Clinchers made 83 for 4. Hezron Toby led the charge with 29 and Okeefe Andrews contributed 18. Bowling for East Bank, Lloyd Hazell took 2 for 20 and Roger Gibson 2 for 24, in a losing cause.
In Sundayâs other match, Dr. Thomas Injectors had the antidote for Sunset Strikers, sedating them with a nine-wicket defeat.
Leroy Farrell hit 16 and Seon Richards 15, as Sunset Strikers made 92, batting first. Roderick Daniel snared 5 for 29 and Winston Snagg 2 for 19.
Leslie Alexander then hit 32 and Damien Allen 27, as Dr. Thomas Injectors powered to 93 for 1, in 8.2 overs.
Sundayâs other match also suffered because of rain and should have brought together LCK Shot Callers and D and K Fashions Fully Loaded.
Saturdayâs matches, which were abandoned, should have featured Georgie Valley Saints against Nar Fren Dem, and Bank of SVG All Stars versus Everything Concrete La Croix.
This weekendâs matches will see, on Saturday from 1 pm, RSVG Police against Macâs Spratt I, and from 3 pm, CGM Novice versus Fully Loaded.
On Sunday, from 10 am, Glen United faces Mac Little Saints; from 12;30 pm, it is the turn of ASCO to take on Fully Loaded Ballers and from 3 pm, Simple Boys meet La Croix.
Twenty teams, grouped in four zones, are participating in the competition, which was won last year by Simple Boys. (RT)
