Mohammed strikes twice

Right arm off spinner Anisa Mohammed took her second five wicket haul to lead the West Indies women bowling attack last Tuesday as the regional team went two up against their Pakistanis counterparts in the second One Day International.{{more}}

The 22-year- old Trinidadian who last Sunday took 5 for 5, becoming the first West Indian woman to take five wickets in a One Day International, returned to take 5 for 7 in Tuesday’s second encounter.

Taking a liking to the Arnos Vale pitch, Player of the Match Mohammed again bowled her ten overs from the Media Center end, of which five were maidens.

Playing second fiddles to Mohammed were the Jamaican pair of Stafanie Taylor, 2 for 10, and Shanel Daley, 2 for 21, assisted in the visitors’ demise.

Pakistan was in search of 176 to level the four match series, but crashed to 86 all out in 44. 1 overs, their second successive sub 100 total, following their 83 made on Sunday.

Pakistan, after being 40 without loss, lost their next nine wickets for 46 runs, partly due to the bowling of Mohammed.

Wadood at the top of the order scored 21, but became Mohammed’s first victim. Abidi Shah, Maroof and Fatima, added to Mohammed’s hatful.

The visitors were always in the shadows of the host, when they allowed the West Indies to post 175 for 9, from their 50 overs, batting first.

Captain Merissa Augulliera hit 71 and Shanel Daley, 42, were the lead batters in the West Indies .Yousaf, 2 for 27, Maroof, 2 for 31, and Dar, 2 for 35, were the main wicket takers for Pakistan.

The West Indies won the first match on Sunday by eight wickets.

The third ODI was set for yesterday, and the fourth and final will be played tomorrow, also at the Arnos Vale Playing Field. (RT)
