Three teams reach NL T/20 Semi-Finals

Three teams have made their way into the semi-finals of the Vinlec North Leeward Twenty/20 Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Reaching this stage, so far, are Future Legends of Rose Hall, Winterset Ball Beaters of Fitz Hughes and Peto Stars of Petit Bordel.

In an upset, Ruddy’s Electrical, without their full complement of eleven players, reached 230 for 4 off 20 overs; Harley Skerritt led the way with 88, Christopher Campbell stroked 58 and Leon Samuel hit 56 not out. Winston Samuel took 2 for 27.

However, the numerical disadvantage on the field showed up, as Future Legends got to 232 for 4 off 19.4 overs, with just two balls to spare.

Future Legends’ innings was navigated by Peter Morris’ 97, the highest individual total in a match to date, in this year’s competition. Akeem Shallow held his own with 76 and Amansford Richards made 28, as they romped to a six-wicket win.

Leon Samuel was the pick of Ruddy’s Electrical bowlers, with 2 for 28.

Winterset Ballers inflicted a 62-run defeat on Ajuba of Spring Village.

Winterset Ball Beaters posted 188 for 7 off their allotted 20 overs; Topscoring was Maxwell Edwards with 77 not out.

Bowling for Ajuba, Kesrick Williams had figures of 2 for 23, Kimalie Williams 2 for 24 and Ronneil Jeffery 2 for 35.

Ajuba was sent packing for 126 all out, off 16.1 overs; Ronneil Jeffery made 35, with Reginald Jeffery and Kesrick Williams both hitting 29. David Murray snapped up 2 for 15, Kesroy Debique 2 for 32 and Kenard Edwards 2 for 36.

And, Peto Stars scorched 201 for 7 off their 20 overs; batting first, led by Rohan Laborde’s 47, Ronique Laborde hit 43 and Allison Samuel made 40.

Bowling for Carlos James Troumaca Starlights, Kentish John took 2 for 22.

Carlos James Troumaca Starlights, though, was dismissed for 73, off 11.1 overs. Dwight Cyrus was the lead batsman with 28 not out.

Kent Lewis took 3 for 10 and Ronique Laborde 3 for 30, to help earn their team a semi-final spot by 128 runs.

The other quarter-final match will be played this Sunday September 4, between defending champions, Carlos James Troumaca United and Somerset at the competition’s venue, the Petit Bordel Playing Field.
