Middlesex succumbs to Panthers

Vincentian Cricket Club Middlesex suffered a hiccup in their last outing in the Brooklyn Cricket League, surrendering to Panthers by 83 runs.{{more}}

Panthers, who took first strike, posted 290 for 7 from their 35 overs.

Ulphat Shazad scored 103, which included 13 fours, and 1 six and Ijaz Butt 66, which included 10 fours.

Lester Benn was the most successful bowler for Middlesex with 3 for 34, with a wicket apiece to Dominic and Mark Audain and Donwell Hector .

When Middlesex batted, they never recovered after losing their stand out batsman Donwell Hector, who was bowled in the first over for a duck.

Despite the father and son pair of Mark and Dominic Audain, who both put on 103 for the third wicket, Middlesex folded for 209 in 31 overs.

Dominic made 67, which was painted with 5 fours and 3 sixes. The elder Audain, Mark, struck 48, which saw him striking 8 boundaries. Rod Michael chipped in with 29 not out, and Adam Sanford who made 25, were Middlesex’s other main contributors with the bat.

Off-spinner Salman Ahmad, who took 2 for 38 and Nousherwan Adil, 2 for 39, were Panthers most successful bowlers.

Last weekend, the teams turned their attention to the 20/20 Knock Out format.
