Younger Bailey takes advantage

Fourteen-year-old Zefal Bailey took advantage of the absence of Deptor Culzac, as well as his older brother Shimano Bailey, who are both attending the ALBA Games in Venezuela, to take the first position in last Sunday’s cycling road race put on by the SVG Cycling Union.{{more}}

Bailey finished the 40 mile course in 2 hours 32 minutes 26.37 seconds, leaving the more seasoned riders behind.

Second spot went to Albert Quammie, 2 hours 33 minutes 21 seconds, and third place went to veteran cyclist Peter Durrant in 2 hours 33 minutes 22.84 seconds.

Among the casualties in last Sunday’s race was Marlon Antrobus, who suffered a puncture on the last lap.

The race, which started at Howard’s Marine, at Villa, saw the cyclists travelling the Ratho Mill to Round About route in Arnos Vale ten times.

Trophies were awarded to the top three finishers.

The next race on the SVG Cycling Union calendar is a 50 mile event slated for August 7.
