Cavalier has up and down weekend in BCL

Cavalier, one of the four Vincentian Cricket outfits playing in the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL), had an up and down time last weekend.

In their first match on Saturday at Marine Park B, Cavalier took first strike and made 265 for 8 in 35 overs.{{more}}

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and USA middle order batsman Albert Tesheira opened the batting, carrying his bat through to score 74 not out. Former SVG, Windwards and West Indies fast bowler Cameron Cuffy hit 30.

Replying, Shaheen reached 228 for 9 in 34 overs when the time ran out. Cavalier’s bowling was led by Brian Henry who took 3 for 32, and Jeron John, 2 for 24.

On Sunday at Seaview, Cavalier lost to Challengers. Batting first, Challengers, which the toss, reached 286 for 4 in 33 overs. Rahim Ali helped himself to a topscore of 110.

In their response, Cavalier’s innings stopped at 203 in their allotment of 33 overs. Tesheira was again among the run makers with 4.

But making amends for the Vincentian community on Sunday was Imperial, which beat Pak Kashmir by one wicket.

Pak Kashmir took first knock and was all out for 166 in 31 overs. Byron Mars was the lead bowler with 3 for 21, Shamroy Primo took 3 for 34, and the former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Combined Islands player Colville Browne, 2 for 40.

Imperial crossed the line making 168 for 9 in 30 overs, Everad Ollivere with 41 and Orient Bostic, 38 not out, as Imperial recorded their sixth win, as opposed to their two losses and one rained out match.

Salim took 5 for 25, in a losing effort for Pak Kashmir. (RT)
