Inquiries, made by SEARCHLIGHT to key personnel of the SVGFF as to the date for the usual Press Conference, have been met with ambiguous and uncertain responses.

Reports are that Rowe is dissatisfied with certain aspects of his employment and is at variance with other members of his technical staff, which could force him to quit the job.

General Secretary of the SVGFF Ian Hypolite, in a press release dated January 26, stated: “The SVGFF is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Colwyn Rowe as its Technical Director. Mr. Rowe, an Englishman, brings a wealth of training and experience to this position”.

According to the release, Rowe holds a UEFA ‘A’ Coaching Licence, FA Diploma Licence ‘Coach Educator’ and a FA Diploma Management and Treatment of Sports Injury.

His employment records shows him being the Technical Director/Manager of Youth, Al Ahly Cairo, Egypt, from June 2008 to July 2010. He was the Senior National Team Coach of Botswana, from August 2006 to June 2008, as well as the Technical Director/Manager of the Jordan National Youth Teams, from January 2005 to August 2006, among others.

Rowe, a professional player from 1972 to 1978, and a semi-pro from 1979 to 1987, has had stints as coach with Ipswich and Luton from 1992 to 1998.

“In directing the technical department, Mr Rowe is expected to, amongst other things, revise /produce and implement all technical and development plans of the SVGFF, assess and assign the available human and material resources, so as to maximize the efficient and speedy implementation and functioning of the technical programs and national teams”, the release stated.

Additionally, Rowe was mandated to ensure the optimal functioning of the Youth Development Programme, develop and implement a coaches’ education programme, develop and implement a coaches’ education programme specially suited and adapted for primary and secondary schools, and develop and implement a coaches’ certification system/programme.

“He will also function as a coach”, the release added.

“Mr.Rowe will be presented to the media for a press briefing subsequently”, the release ended.

Rowe touched down in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday, January 23rd, and was present at the Victoria Park, following the hosting of the Secondary Schools Football Finals.

Since here, Rowe has been visible at local matches at the Victoria Park and conducted a three-day local coaching programme last month.(RT)
