Clare Valley Gov’t  captures Harlequin football championship

The lads of the Clare Valley Government School football team emerged victorious at the finals of the Harlequin Liverpool Buccament Bay Resort Football Academy Soccer finals.{{more}} The finals of the four week tournament took place on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the Buccament Bay Resort football field.

Four teams took part in the finals and battled each other in two hyped thirty minute games. The first match saw the Buccament Bay Government School team play against the Questelles Primary School, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The second match saw the Clare Valley Government School conquer the Buccament Secondary School, scoring 3 goals to 1.

The Clare Valley School was also awarded the trophy for scoring the most goals in the tournament, while the Buccament Government School received a trophy for being the most disciplined team during the tournament.

Speaking at the beginning of the games, Laura Vallati, Executive Director of Spa and Leisure at the Buccament Bay Resort, stated that it was a pleasure to work with the team members and the coaches who were involved in the tournament. Vallati stated that the tournament spanned four weeks, during which the four schools participated and were trained to improve their skills.

At the end of the finals on Thursday, fourteen boys were chosen from the four teams to join the Harlequin Liverpool Buccament Bay Resort Football Academy. Each player who took part in the competition also received a medal for participating, while the schools received certificates.
