Two new faces on SVGCA Executive
Andrew Bramble and Kenroy Martin are the two new faces added to the Executive of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association.{{more}}
They were elected as Committee Members, when the Association held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, February 12, at the Presidentâs Suite at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
The duo earned their positions in an eight-way race for four spots, which also included incumbents Calvin Glasgow and Cecil Charles, as well as other hopefuls Deighton Butler, Samantha Lynch, Genita Lewis, and Cleton Burnett.
Bramble and Martin both polled 26 votes to complete the quota of Committee Members. Glasgow and Charles were returned to the Committee with 37 and 36 votes respectively.
Butler garnered 22 votes, Burnett and Lynch gathered 20 each, and Lewis 15.
Outgoing Committee Members, Roger Davis and George Byron, did not seek re-election.
All other members on the immediate past Executive were returned.
Julian Jack was once again returned unopposed to the post of President, for the fourth consecutive two-year term.
Also holding on to his position was First Vice President Elson Crick, who defeated Ortis Jack 36-25.
Selwyn Allen, Second Vice President, and long-standing Secretary, Samuel Holder, were returned to these positions unopposed.
Rawle Caine, who was co-opted on the Executive as Treasurer, during the last term, following Daniel McMillan vacating the position to pursue studies overseas, easily disposed of his challenger, Peter Campbell, 45-17.
Also maintaining his position as Assistant Secretary was Thaddeus Seymour, who beat Ortis Jack 34-28.
President Julian Jack, in his acceptance remarks, thanked all those who showed faith in his leadership and welcomed the new faces to the Executive.
The new Executive members were congratulated by former Committee Member George Byron, who warned them that it is not an easy job being a cricket administrator. He, however, noted that there is much to be learnt from experienced persons involved in the sport. Byron said that much of his personal development came from his stints as an administrator at the national level.
At Saturdayâs meeting, the Executive Report and the Audited Treasurerâs Report were presented.
Hot on the heels of last Saturdayâs Annual General Meeting is the launch of the Associationâs website, which is set to be unveiled today.
The 2011 National Cricket competitions get going on the weekend of March 5 and 6. (RT)
