Rain ruins ASCO T/20 Softball Competition

Rain ruined the first round matches in the Ashburton Sports and Cultural Organisation T20 Softball Cricket Competition on the weekend, as only one match was completed at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

All of Saturday’s matches were rained out. The day’s fixtures should have brought together Bank of SVG All Stars and Karibbean Tires Street Vibes, followed by the Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem and S.G. Defreitas Beat D Heat clash. However, due to persistent showers no play was possible.

On Sunday morning, Mc East Banks had a 10 wicket win over Dr. Thomas Injectors.

Batting first, Dr. Thomas Injectors was dismissed for 120 from 19 overs. Extras topped the runs tally with 37. Stephen Straker scored 27, Elroy Nanton 20 and Ronnick Daniel chipped in with 15. Bowling for Mc East Banks Kristoff St. John bagged 2 for 20 and Nemo Robinson 2 for 7.

In reply, Mc East Banks reached 124 without loss in 14.2 overs. Powering East Bank’s innings were Roger Gibson, who blasted 67, not out and Kevern Clarke 42, not out .

Sunday’s other two matches, which should have seen ASCO facing Stick Up International and Young Strikers and Glen United battling, were abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to waterlogged conditions.

With the hope of better weather this weekend, another five matches are carded for decision.

On Saturday, February 19 from 1p.m., RSVG Police faces United Survivors in a Female Division match up.

From 3:15 p.m., in a Male Division match, RSVG Police takes on Shot Callers.

On Sunday from 9:30 a.m., Nex Level plays Rocks in a male encounter and the females go at it from 1p.m., when Ju-c Super Strikers meets ASCO Dynamics and the capper pits Ken’s Plumbing Associates Simple Boys against Stallions from 3:15 p.m. (RT)
