At about 3 p.m., the youngsters got the ball rolling as they engaged in four-a-side battle with teams from in and around Kingstown.

The raw talent of the children grabbed the attention of many of the community’s residents, who flocked to the hard court to take in some of the action.

Ronaldo Baptiste, Kevin Richardson, Kishawn Johnny and Xavier Jack trampled their opponents United by four goals to one to reign supreme in the finals.

They walked away with two cases of Busta soft drink.

The other teams were Yardboyz, which placed third, and Roseans, which placed fourth.

Organisers of the event, Jomarley Cyrus, Junior Jacobs and Calvert Browne, said that they want to bring back a “vibe” in the community, where the youngsters can display their talent. The young men said half of the money collected as a participation fee will go towards the Salvation Army.

The men noted that they are hoping to put on similar events more regularly, but for right now, they are taking things one step at a time.

They thanked Wayne Murphy of St. Vincent Brewery Ltd and Ras I-tal cuisine in Pauls Avenue for assisting in their event.

As the action spilled over into the night, nine teams competed in the senior segment, with the match between Starboyz and Highgrade being one of the most exciting.

However, the night’s action was cut short by heavy rains, and the remaining matches will conclude this weekend.

The winners will take home two cases of Hairoun beer.
