National Sports Awards set for March 5th, 2011
The 2011 National Sports Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 5, at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex.{{more}}
The date was announced by the National Sports Council on Thursday, January 27.
The council says that sporting organisations in the state have already received their nomination forms in respect of their athletes.
The deadline for the return of these forms is February 4.
Nominees will be vying for a number of awards, including Sports Personality of the Year, the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year, and the Junior Sportsperson of the year, in the male and female category.
The National Sports Award event is staged to honour the countryâs leading sportspersons, for their outstanding achievements during the year. At stake are a number of attractive cash prizes.
The National Sports Council is urging all sports organisations in the state to complete the entry forms on time, so that their athletes will have a chance to compete for the top awards.
The judges for the awards this year are Cyril Doyle, Lennox John, Jacintha Ballantyne, Sonja Lewis and Woodrow Williams.
