The 26-year-old Dominican takes over from Darren Sammy, who is off to Sri Lanka, and later the World Cup.

Sebastian, a left -handed middle order batsman and right arm off break bowler, has played 30 first class matches, scoring 1,020 runs at an average of 21.7. His highest individual score is 143. He has two centuries and four half centuries to his name. With his off breaks, Sebastian has captured 32 wickets.

Sebastian was handed the job, as the other senior players are unavailable.

Devon Smith is also off to Sri Lanka and the World Cup, and Shane Shillingford has been suspended by the International Cricket Council, for an illegal bowling action.

Sammy took over last year from long standing captain Grenadian Rawl Lewis. Lewis has since quit first class Cricket, as he has taken up a job with the West Indies Cricket Board.

The five Vincentians selected are Donwell Hector, Lindon James, Dellorn Johnson, Kieron Cottoy and Kenroy Peters.

The other players selected for the first round match are Dominicans Tyrone Theophile and Mervyn Matthew.

St. Lucians Johnson Charles, Gairy Mathurin and Keddy Lesporis have also been included.

Completing the team are Grenadians Andre Fletcher and Nelon Pascal.

The Coach is Vincentian Ian Allen, with Manager Lockhart Sebastian of Dominica.

The Windwards open their campaign against the Combined Campuses and Colleges(CCC) at the 3W’s Oval in Barbados. (RT)
