Junior Tennis rankings released

Following the conclusion of the 2010 local Junior Tennis circuit, the rankings for the various age categories have been released by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association.{{more}}

As of December 31, 2010, Rafai Bentick is ranked the number one seed in both the Boys Under18 and Under 16 categories.

Also topping two age categories is Chelsea Haslam, who is the number one in both the Girls Under 14 and Under 12 categories.

Seated at number two in the Boys Under 18 is J’Rai Joyette-Da Silva, with Johnathan Perry at number three. Julio Francis is at four, and the 2009 number one Fabrice George rounds off the top five seeds.

The second seed in the Boys Under 16 is Johnathan Perry, with Julio Francis third. Tied for fourth are Jymourn De Roche, Joyette-Da Silva and Kevin Huggins.

The Boys Under 14 sees Akeem Guy as number one, Jymourn De Roche, number two, Imani King, number three, with Sebastian Cyrus and Zachary Williams, fourth and fifth respectively.

Sebastian is the Boys Under 12 top seed, Alexander Cyrus, number two, Khamisi Bascombe, in at three, with Jon Anthony Thomas, fourth and Keshawn Butcher, fifth.

Bascombe is the Boys Under 10 top seed. Miguel Francis is at two and at three is Keshawn Butcher.

In the Girls Under 18, Michelle Gun Munro leads the pack, with Olivia Haslam second and Halimah Michael ranked third.

Haslam finished the year as the top seed in the Girls Under 16, tied with Michael. Rhiana Bruce-Lyle finished the year under review as the third seeded player.

Trailing Chelsea Haslam in the Girls Under -14’s is Denee Lyttle. The third seed is Roberta Haslam. Luka Lyttle is the fourth seed, and the fifth seed is Jolene Providence.

In the Girls Under 12, Chelsea Haslam is ahead of biological twins, Denee and Luka Lyttle in that order.

Sisters Gabrielle and Amarlia Benn are seeded one and two, respectively, in the Girls Under-10. The third seed is Chelsea Cordice.

The rankings were compiled after the players’ involvement in the three Junior Tennis tournaments, the Easter, summer and Christmas championships. (RT)
