Wagner, who coordinated the trip, told Searchlight that she was well pleased with the performance of the athletes, who did their best in the event and gave a good representation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

She indicated that the club consists of dedicated athletes from various parts of the island who had been performing well at the local level, and the exposure was an opportunity for them to engage in regional and international competition.

According to Wagner, local athletes have also been successful in previous Run Barbados races.

She said that the club will continue to train in the track and field off season, for local and other regional events.

Wagner used the opportunity to thank the sponsors who facilitated the athletes’ journey. These include the National Lotteries Authority, Digicel, Edwin D Layne, Courts, Allan Smith and family Bakery, and the Bank of Novia Scotia.(JJ)
