This will be Lewis’ third trip to the Games, which is for athletes aged 50 years and over.

Lewis will be defending the Females 60 – 64 age group Shot Putt and Discus events, which she won last year. She will also possibly compete in the Javelin Throw this time around.

“I am going to try and do my best and once again put St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the highest,” Lewis told SEARCHLIGHT last Sunday.

She said she is especially elated to be able to compete with others from different parts of the world, and being the reigning champion of the Shot Putt event is an added incentive to perform well.

She disclosed that even though the Games are among senior athletes, they are very competitive.

There are events for persons as old as 84 years.

The Opening Ceremony takes place on Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Hansen Stadium on the campus of Dixie State College.

Apart from the chance to compete, the Games promote worldwide Peace, Health, and Friendship.

Lewis said that the Games is a forerunner to next year’s Senior Olympics to be held in in Texas, USA. (RT)
