Simple Boys, United Survivors remain ASCO 20/20 champions

Simple Boys and United Survivors remained the dominant forces in the ASCO 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition when they both recaptured their championship titles on the weekend.{{more}} In the grand male division finals on Sunday, Simple Boys made it three in a row when they defeated Owia Shottaz by 17 runs.

Batting first, the champions posted 102 in 18.4 overs. Desron Maloney piloted the batting; blasting 30; all in sixes. Casmond Walters stoked 26. Lisborne Lavia bagged 3 for 22 and Shanley Lavia 2 for 21. In reply Owia Shottaz was bundled out for 85 in 16.2 overs. Rohan Lavia hit 26 and Salvan Browne 19. Casmond Walters took 3 for 22, Travis Cumberbatch 2 for 7, Elric Morris 2 for 10 and Desron Maloney 2 for 12.

In the third place playoff, Glen United whipped Mc East bank by seven wickets. Batting first, Mc East Bank was shot out for 65 in 13.2 overs. Kristoff St John hit 26. Troy Harry grabbed 3 for 9. Glen United replied with 63 for 3 in 10.3 overs. Elvis Woods hit an unbeaten 24 and Alfred Byam 17. Kezron Maloney captured 2 for 13.

Meanwhile, female title holders, United Survivors, marched their way to their seventh consecutive championship title without having to sweat on the weekend. On Saturday, Clinchers turned up with six players to take on the champs. ASCO did the same on Sunday. At the end of the round robin competition; United Survivors topped the points table with maximum 48 points, Glen United was second with 32 and ASCO and Ju-c Super Strikers tied for third on 29 points each.

The competition will come to a grand climax on this Saturday July 17, with the presentation of awards at the Dauphine Community Center Hall from 6:30pm. Former West Indies wicket keeper/batsman and commentator, Michael Findlay will deliver the keynote address and will speak on the topic: “How to achieve my goal as an aspiring professional cricketer.”
