ASCO Softball Cricket hits semi-final road

Four teams: Glen United, Mac East Bank, Owia Shottaz and defending champions Simple Boys are into the semi-finals of the ASCO Softball 20/20 Cricket 20/20 competition.{{more}}

Last Saturday, Glen United handed Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem a 38-run whipping. Batting first, Glen United was dismissed for 102 in 19.4 overs. Maxi Hackshaw hit 32.

Kenford Collins captured 4 for 10 and Clinton Woods 2 for 26. In reply, Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem struggled to 64 in 19.2 overs. Dominic Stowe picked up 3 for 26 and Ricky King, 2 for 16.

On Sunday, Mc East Bank pulled off a narrow two-wicket win over the much fancied Clinchers. Clinchers batted first and scored 83 in 15.1 overs. Rohan Giles led the way with 20. Kevin Clarke bagged 3 for 19, Bill Edwards, 2 for 6, Ronald Medford, 2 for 19, and Kristoff St. John, 2 for 29. Chasing 94 to win, Mc East Bank trudged home in 18.5 overs with two wickets to spare. Extras contributed 33. Donwell Hector took 2 for 13 and Peter Richards, 2 for 25.

Meanwhile, title holders, Simple Boys triumphed over Next Level by19 runs in a competitive match dominated by extras. Batting first, Simple Boys struggled to 88 in 18 overs. Extras contributed 24. Romel Jackson grabbed 3 for 15 and Winston Holder, 3 for 17. Asked to score 89 to win, Next Level only managed 69 in 17.1 overs. Travis Cumberbatch, Eldon Morris and Casmon Walters all grabbed two wickets a piece to destroy Next level. Also into the semi finals is Owia Shottaz who last week whipped stick Up International by156 runs.

The Female Division continued with title holders United Survivors winning by default from Stick Up International.

Glen United also gained full points when they defeated RSVG Police by eight wickets.

RSVG Police posted 87 for 7 from the allotted 20 overs. Karla Burgin slammed 50 not out. Natasha John captured 3 for 7. In reply, Glen United reached 89 for 2 in 13.3 overs. Natasha John led the way with 25 not out.

This weekend, Saturday, will see semi finals action. From 1:00pm, Simple Boys will face Mc East Bank, then from 3:15pm, Owia Shottaz takes on Glen United.
