Eight teams to do battle as Courts virtual football

For the second straight Saturday, fans of the game of football gathered at the showroom of furniture and appliance store, Courts, for more exciting games of world Cup Football – virtual that is.{{more}}

The spectators came to witness the second round of the Courts World Cup Football Challenge where contenders tackled each other on Playstation 3 with the special edition FIFA World Cup 2010 game.

This round of action saw eight teams qualify for the quarterfinal leg of the competition, with France played by Kendall Hinds set to take on Spain (Sean Sutherland) in action tomorrow, beginning at 10am.

Quarterfinal action will also see Greece (Kemuel Arthur) coming up against Ivory Coast (Joshua Bonadie), Algeria (Keith Jones) playing Italy (Dwayne Dennie) and Serbia (Ivo Carr) matching skills against Holland (Akeem Barbour)

The winning teams will go on to the semifinals next Saturday, July 3, with the finals set for July 10, one day before the ‘real’ finals on July 11.

The winners of the Courts hosted event will not hoist the FIFA World Cup trophy over their heads but will be lifting a brand new 32-inch LCD television set on to their living room wall.

Meanwhile, the Courts ‘Keep It Up Football’ juggling is into its semifinal stage, with four ‘ballers matching their skills also on Saturday following the World Cup Challenge.

The two ball technicians who keep the ball in the air for the longest period of time in a designated area will square off next Saturday, July 3, in the finals for a chance to win EC$1000.

The semifinalists are Reynold John, Quincy Bute, Michael Nichols and the lone female, Tiffany Kirby.

Customers of Courts also stand a chance of winning EC $1000, by naming the country whose flag is missing from a number of footballs placed at the store.
