Vincies drag to the finish line

The Vincentian Drag racing contingent continued with their good form in regional competition and at the just concluded ‘GMC Drag Fest’ held at Pearls drag strip in Grenada from May 29 to 30.{{more}}

Dubbed as one of the larger drag events across the region, the Vincentian drivers had an impressive showing.

Elton Bailey and his Mitsubishi Evolution 9 clocked an all new fastest time of 10.6 seconds in the quarter mile run, beating the 10.8 seconds that was set by Martello Knights’ Subaru Impreza earlier this year.

Despite suffering slight mechanical difficulty on day two of competition, Bailey still went on to win the prize for the fastest 4 cylinder car in the event.

Lennox Jack with his Toyota Corolla and Obed Williams with his Honda Integra both sustained mechanical difficulties, but not before recording consistent quarter mile times which ensured them second placed positions in their respective individual brackets.

A total of three drag cars and a team of ten were present at the event which came up against some of the best dragsters from Trinidad and Grenada in an all out brawl for the fastest times.

Although the event had to be prematurely stopped due to heavy rains, the team says that they are happy overall with the performance, as they continue to fly the Vincentian flag around the region.
