Questelles Primary School wins 2010 zonal Brownies sports championship


Local Brownie packs have held another zonal sports event.

This time the Questelles Primary School Brownies emerged winner. This event took place on Saturday, May 29, at the Clare Valley School playing field. Competing in the event were the Dubois Primary, Questelles Primary, Lowmans Leeward and the Clare Valley Primary.{{more}}

The girls participated in 60 metre, 100 metre, 4 x 100 relay, three legged race, needle and thread, Lime and spoon, Sack race, Wheel barrow, Bean bag, Hoopla, Obstacle, and an open race for parents and Guiders.

The following packs were the winners of the various activities: 60 metre: 1st Clare Valley, 2nd Dubois, 3rd Questelles. 100 Metre: 1st Dubois, 2nd Lowmans Ld, 3rd Questelles. 4 x 100 Metre: 1st Questelles, 2nd Dubois, 3rd Lowmans. Lime and spoon: 1st Dubois, 2nd Lowmans. Three legged race: 1st Dubois, 2nd Lowmans, 3rd Questelles. Needle and thread: 1st Questelles, 2nd Dubois, 3rd Lowmans. Sack race: 1st Dubois, 2nd Clare Valley, 3rd Questelles. Wheel barrow: 1st Lowmans, 2nd Questelles, 3rd Dubois. Bean bag: 1st Questelles, 2nd Lowmans, 3rd Dubois. Hoopla: 1st Dubois, 2nd Questelles, 3rd Clare Valley. Obstacle race: 1st Questelles, 2nd Dubois. Open race: 1st Guiders from Dubois, 2nd Parents form Dubois.

The girls were all very competitive and the results needed a tie breaker to determine the winner between Dubois and Questelles. Here Questelles emerged winner and the Dubois took second place.

Distributing the prizes was the Chief Commissioner Althea Commissiong. Brownie Commissioner Jacqueline Soso-Vincent was also present and gave brief remarks. She stated that the finals of all the zonal winners will take place in July, duirng which six packs will compete for a trophy.

Questelles now makes the fifth winner, with one more zone to take place. This will be held on June 12 in Georgetown.
