Plans for National Stadium still on the agenda, says McKie

This country may soon be getting a national stadium after all.

The announcement comes against an earlier decision made by the current administration to not go ahead with initial plans for the construction of the facility due to financial constraints associated with the global economic meltdown.{{more}}

However, newly appointed Minister of Sport, Cecil McKie, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, June 2, said a decision was made that the construction of a national stadium had once again been placed as a priority project.

“It would have been put on hold, but has since been given the green light to put it back on the front burner,” McKie said.

He indicated that further details for the planned construction will be outlined in the 2011 budget when it is presented later on in the year for the beginning of the first phase of the project.(DD)
