Mixed bag for Middlesex in BCL
Middlesex, one of the two Vincentian teams taking part in the Brooklyn Cricket League, had mixed fortunes over the Memorial Day weekend.{{more}}
On Saturday, May 29, Middlesex met St.Lucia at Marine Park (Mpk) D. Middlesex took first strike and scored 266 for 8 from their 40 overs. Joseph Ledwridge topscored with 68, including 10 fours. Jacob Emmanuel, 63, with 6 fours, and Dominic Audain, 60 not out, which included 9 fours.
Winston Celestine picked up 3 for 33.
Replying, St.Lucia, 184 all out, Libert Serieux hit 63, which included 10 fours and a six, and Richard Moncherry 33.
Daren Denis had 3 for 24, former West Indies fast bowler Adam Sanford also picked up 3 wickets, Jacob Emmanuel 2 for 38, as Middlesex won by 82 runs.
But it was different case on Sunday against Panthers, when events took a whole different turn.
Panthers, who have so far played unbeaten in the 2010 Brooklyn Cricket League, scored a massive 281 for 8 victory against Middlesex in their allotted 40 overs.
Qayyum 82, Asim 55 and Imran Khan 39. Adam Sanford 3 for 39, Sherwin Lyttle got 3 for 45.
Middlesex could only muster 141 for 7 from 38 overs, Rod Michael 39 not out, Sherwin Lyttle 27 not out, and Lester Benn 25, were the notable scores.
