The Lawmen easily took Surprisers, beating them by 29 runs. Police won the toss and elected to bat, and compiled an imposing total of 119 for 5 from their 20 overs. Opening batsman Roderick John hit 70 not out, which included 8 sixes and 2 fours. Surprisers never came to grips with the RSVG Police’s bowling, and finally succumbed in the 19th over for 90, falling short by 29 runs.

RSVG Police pocketed the champion’s trophy and $1200, while Surprisers had to settle for the runner up trophy and $700.

The lawmen also made a clean sweep of the individual awards at the Closing and Prize Giving Ceremony that followed. Roderick John was awarded the MVP of the finals, with Salvan Browne and Kenroy Martin taking the awards for Most Runs and Most Wickets, respectively.

Preceding the finals were the semi-finals on Saturday that produced two nervy finishes. In the first semi, Surprisers upset the 2009 champions Keartons United.

Surprisers, needing to score ten runs from the last two balls, did so to gain an improbable victory. Keartons United made 66 all out in 18.5 overs – Kenroy Richards scored 28. Surprisers 67 for 8, with Dillon Duncan making 18.

In the other exciting Semi-finals on Saturday, Summerset failed to get the required six runs to win from the last ball.

In a game reduced to 15 overs, due to rain, Police batted first and tallied 74 all out in 14.5 overs. Trevor Bailey scored 25 for the lawmen, with Noxell Michael capturing 5 for 16. In reply Summerset, last year’s losing finalists, made 69 for 5 in their 15 overs. (RT)
