Mitres/ TRAC inches closer

Western Union Mitres/TRAC inched one step closer to retaining the Division One title of the Digicel National Club Tournament with a comfortable win over archrivals Vita Malt Maple last evening at the Kingstown Netball Centre.{{more}}

Mitres/ TRAC led the first quarter 14-12, but Maple pulled back in the second quarter to establish a slender one point lead 25-24.

Mitres/TRAC took the decisive quarter 42-39, with Maple showing signs of fatigue, and finally romped home 56-49.

For Mitres/ TRAC, Gailene Gordon scored 50 from her 58 attempts, with Shellisa Davis scoring 4 for 8 and Jovannie John 2 from 8.

Skiddy Francis- Crick led the way for Maple with 39 from 44, Rose Claire Hall 10 from 10 and Thelma Foster zero from her two attempts.

The win for Mitres/TRAC made them the only unbeaten in that division thus far, with Maple second and Twilight Trading X-Ceed in the third position, with two wins and two losses.

Leading the Division Two points table is Minors Construction Calliaqua United, with Inter Secondary School Seniors holding down the second spot.

In Division Three, French Verandah X-Ceed is out front with ten points from their five matches. Second in that division is Sea Operations Nar Fen Dem, with C & R Enterprises Sion Hill, in the third position.

The Division Four is being led by Third Eye Security X-Ceed , with maximum points from their five matches played up to press time. Trailing them is Maple with four wins from as many matches, and Hillview 2, in the third position.

Meanwhile, Vita Malt Maple will leave the state May 19 for St. Kitts, as this country’s representative in the Courts OECS Champions of Champions Club Tournament.(RT)
