Digicel takes Special Needs Children to Cricket

Last Friday, thanks to Digicel, students of the School for Children with Special Needs were able to take in action in the 4th one-day international cricket match between West Indies and Zimbabwe.{{more}}

The students, decked in their Digicel cricket t-shirts, were given first class seats at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex. Headteacher of the School for Children with Special Needs Naseem Smith Williams thanked Digicel for the day out. She had earlier commented: “A lot of the times they don’t get to experience things first hand, so this is really cool, and I would like to thank Digicel for doing this for the students”.

Marketing Manger of Digicel Juno DeRoche said on Friday that Digicel always tries to reach out to the less fortunate in the society.

“We thought about these kids because we know that this outing would bring joy to their hearts,” said DeRoche who added: “Although they might have a disability they are very alert to West Indies cricket, and a lot of the kids like the captain Chris Gayle”.

Students were very elated and said that they enjoyed the game, “especially how the West Indies won.”
