Hector redeems himself locally

After a wretched time in the WICB four-day regional Cricket competition, Vincentian and Windward Islands middle order batsman Donwell Hector is using the local RBTT Premier Division to work on the mental side of his game.{{more}}

Discarded by the Windwards selectors for the last two matches of the competition after scoring a mere 58 runs from his five innings, the right hander last weekend cracked 101 to set the base for his club Victors One’s total of 234 for 9 declared. Kenny Stapleton made 30. Renford Jack took 3 for 13, and Parnell Browne, 3 for 47, bowling for Police One.

This was after Police One was whisked out for 64. Alston Bobb took 3 for 13 and Keiron Cottoy, 3 for 18, bowling for Victors One.

Police One, batting a second time, made 97. Larry Adams was the topscorer with 40, as Cottoy bagged 6 for 42, and Bobb, 2 for 23, to carve out an innings and 73 runs triumph.

It was a weekend for Victors, as Victors Two got first innings from Police Two.

Kishore Shallow, 57, Rodrigo Thomas, 41, and Liston Lavia, 38, were the main contributors in Victors Two’s total of 276. Kenroy Martin, 2 for 19, Elmore Alexander, 2 for 53, and Mohammed Lavia, 2 for 53, shared the wickets for Police Two.

In reply, Police Two were dismissed for 190. Martin made 58 and Oneil Thomas hit 33. Kevin Abraham took 2 for 23, Ray Jordon, 2 for 35, Javid Harry, 2 for 41, and Jenry Ollivierre, 2 for 50.

Batting a second time, Victors Two reached 121 for 3, with Thomas scoring 53 not out, and Ronaldo Coombs, 44. Alexander took 2 for 28.

In the Bottlers First Division, new boys Combined Youths hammered Hairoun Beer North Leeward by an innings and 89 runs.

Javed Spencer made 64, and Desron Maloney, 32, in Combined Youths’ total of 198. Vedol Edwards captured 6 for 47 and Ronnique Laborde, 2 for 34.

In response, North Leeward crashed to 36 all out. Romario Bibby picked up 4 for 6 and Marlon Farrell, 4 for 10.

Following on, North Leeward made 73, with Farrell taking 5 for 15, Bibby, 2 for 17, and Rickford Walker, 2 for 19.

And, Neil Williams Academy gained first innings points from Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors.

Batting first, Unique Warriors made 147. Timothy Warner bagged 5 for 50 and Kentish Phillips, 4 for 37.

The Academy in reply made 157. Devane Warner made 54. Joseph Medford, 5 for 60, and Andrew Thomas, 3 for 6, shared the bowling honours for Unique Warriors, who declared their second innings at 298 for 6. Darren Chance led the batting with 75, Albert Williams, 64 not out, Thomas, 51, and Courtney Mc Dowall, 33. Warner took 2 for 42.

Chasing 309 to win, the Academy was 136 for 8. St. Clair Dasent made 51. Jerome Jack with 5 for 53 and Medford, 3 for 34, tried in an unsuccessful come from behind win. (RT)
