SVGFF dishes out awards

Winners of the National Lotteries Authority St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation National Club Championships were awarded their prizes last Saturday evening at a ceremony staged at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.{{more}}

Awards were distributed for the three completed divisions in the competitions thus far.

The Premier Division, which was won by Avenues United, saw them collecting a winner’s purse of $7,000, with second placed System 3 getting $5,000. The third placed club, Nemwil Hope International, received $4,000; fourth placed Prospect United, $2,500, and fifth placed Digicel Je Belle, $1,000.

Individual awards in that division saw Kenyon Lynch of System 3, the Best Goal Keeper; Keith James of Avenues, the Best Defender; Damal Francis, also of Avenues, the Best Midfielder and Most Outstanding Player, and his teammate, Myron Samuel, the Best Forward. Francis and Samuel both netted 17 goals each, to be joint top goal scorers.

The First Division was won by BESCO Pastures and earned them $3,000, with second placed K & R Strikers taking home $2,500; third placed Parkside Rollers $1,200, and fourth placed Gabba Boyz $1,000. Gabba Boyz also received the late Larry Bascombe Award for best representing the ideals of sport.

Pastures’ Ruel Stapleton copped the Best Goal keeper award, with Parkside Rollers’ Zeron Murray adjudged the Best Defender.

Nicol Stephens of Pastures was not only the Best Midfielder, but secured the division’s overall Most Valuable Player award, while his teammate Wendell Cuffy snapped up the award for being the Best Forward.

In the Under-17 competition, which was won by System 3, their standout player Azhino Solomon captured the Most Valuable Player and Best Forward awards. Jovan Lynch of System 3 followed the footsteps of his elder brother Kenyon in taking away the Best Goal Keeper awards.

The talented Deandrous Williams of third placed Digicel Je Belle was the Best Defender, and the twinkled toe Kemron Charles of second placed Edge Solution Camdonia Chelsea was the awardee for the Best Midfielder trophy.

Yet to be completed is the Women’s Division. However, in a forerunner to that division’s competition, Je Belle triumphed and collected a token of $500 for their efforts.(RT)
