‘Peto’  Secondary dominates Central Leeward 5K

Yurnic Nanton of the Petit Bordel Secondary School (PBSS) was the first to cross the finish line when Team Athletics SVG held it 5K road race from Rillan Hill to Layou, last Sunday.{{more}}

Nanton clocked 24 minutes, 21.48 seconds, thereby securing the Male Under-19 championship. Shammon Hooper made it one, two for the PBSS in the male Under-19. Brandon Parris of the Thomas Saunders Secondary, took the third spot.

Nadia Delplesche of X-ceed took the female Under-19. She returned a winning time of 32 minutes 22.16 seconds. Sandreka Hooper of the PBSS and Antonia Simon of the North Union Secondary School, completed the top three finishers in that age category.

The dominance of the PBSS continued in the Under-15. Fulicia Creese of the PBSS was the winner in the female Under-15 category, with Caswell Lewis , also of the PBSS, the winner among the males.

Creese’s time was 36 minutes 40.02 seconds, while Lewis clocked 26 minutes 32.12 seconds.

Second to Creese was Anada Francois, also of the PBSS, and third was Tara Joseph of the Adelphi Secondary.

Country Roots’ Dwight Baptiste and Lisa Daniel who are unattached were the male and female open winners.

Baptiste’s time was 25 minutes 13.88 seconds, while Daniel clocked.29 minutes 38.63 seconds.

In the Open male, second was Gregran Jacobs of Country Roots and Keron Arthur of the St. Vincent Grammar School, third.

Shelby Kimbough , also unattached, and Kericha Fraser of Country Roots were second and third respectively to Daniel.

Forty four athletes participated in last Sunday’s event as Team Athletics SVG’s road racing calendar nears the finish line.

This Sunday will see the Log Enterprises 5K Road Race. The race will begin at 3:00pm from Troumaca Bottom and finish at Chateaubelair.(RT)
