SVGBC held their trump card Corbet Crick close to their chest, only releasing him in the semi finals. Crick was the fulcrum in their triumph as SVGBC beat the Vincentian newspaper three games to two in a competitive Final.

Jeff Trotman gave the Vincentian a rollicking start when he got past Shayne Alexander in straight sets 11-5, 11-8. Then Crick humbled William Anthony, 11-4, 11-6, to level the tie. Dayle DaSilva then made it 2-1 for the Vincentian when he defeated Debron Cruickshank, 11-7, 11-5. Crick squared things up again, beating Trotman 11-7, 11-7. In the decisive match up, Alexander took care of Anthony 11-7, 11-8.

En route to the Finals, SVGBC defeated NBC Radio, three games to one.

Crick beat Tyrone Jack, 11-9, 11-2. Junior Cox defeated Alexander, 11-8, 11-8. Cruickshank got the better of McNeil Morgan, 11-8, 11-6. Cox then beat Crick, 11-7, 1-11, 11-9, and Alexander stopped Jack, 11-7, 11-8. At the other end, the much fancied Vincentian had an easy passage as they won from WE-FM by default.

In the open singles, Cox saw off a spirited Alexander in a grueling five setter. Cox won the first two sets beating Alexander, 11-8, 12- 10, but Alexander clawed his way back to take the next two sets, 11-8, 12-10, to set up a tense fifth set. However, the more experienced Cox, with his nonchalant, almost emotionless but deceptive style, kept his composure to win, 11-8.

Cox got to the Final by beating Jack, 11-6 , 11-3, in their semi final meeting, while Alexander blanked Trotman, 11-1 ,11-6. Jack placed third in the singles, with the Vincentian’s Da Silva adjudged the Most Valuable Player, not losing a game in the competition. The other media house which participated was the Searchlight.
