NLA NW 20/20 Cricket Competition reaches Quarter Finals

The last two places up for grabs in the National Lotteries Neil Williams 20/20 Cricket Competition were snapped up following last weekend’s last round of preliminary matches.{{more}}

Securing the two spots were North Leeward and Owia Stars.

North Leeward beat the Neil Williams Academy by 10 runs. Reduced to 12 overs because of rain, North Leeward was dismissed for 62 off 11.3 overs. Ray Charles and Shaquille Browne both grabbed 3 for 11, and Ian Allen 2 for 9.

The Academy was restricted to 52 for 6, from their 12 overs. Kevin Small took 2 for 10.

North Leeward also blanked Belmont by 69 runs. North Leeward scored 141 for 7. Joe Horne had 2 for 24, bowling for Belmont, whose batsmen could only muster 72 for 7, off their allotment of 20 overs. Eston Robertson took 4 for 6, and Javon Samuel, 2 for 11, as North Leeward secured a berth in the last eight.

Belmont ended their miserable run in the competition, also, losing to the Neil Williams Academy by a massive 162 runs.

Devane Warner, 79, Jelano Neil, 72, Zane Edwards, 36, and Browne, 29, combined to place the Academy to 251 for 6. Augustus Mofford and Jerome Samuel took 2 for 36, and 2 for 43, respectively, bowling for Belmont.

Edwards, 3 for 9, Paul Jeremy Kirby, 2 for 25, and Kentish Philips, 2 for 30, conjured up to bowl out Belmont for 89.

Victors One, on the back of 111 from Donson Andrews, his second in this format, and his third in national competitions, and Atticus Browne, 40, shared in an opening stand of 123, to finally reach 173 for 2. Eat Rite Saints made 103 for 6. Kishore Shallow, 27, Keiron Cottoy, 3 for 20.

Also, the unbeaten MVC Rivals kept their clean sheet in tact with an 85 run triumph over Radcliffe Two.

Rivals made 154 for 7, with the in form Hyron Shallow making 69 not out. Moses Douglas Radcliffe Two reached 69. Andy Harper hit 25. Colin Shoy snared 4 for 19.

Another quarter finalists , OLA Boutique Radcliffe, recorded a ten wicket win over Unique Warriors. Rodney Lawrence topscored with 31, Christopher Campbell, 29, and Courtney Mc Donald, 26, as Unique Warriors posted 117. Kenroy Martin, 4 for 24, and Dyke Cato shared the bowling honours for OLA Boutique Radcliffe. Wayne Harper then struck 58 not out and Delroy Johnson, 48 not out , as both shared in an opening partnership of 120 for no loss, to push their team over the line. The Quarter Finals, set for this weekend, will see MVC Rivals against North Leeward, Victors One versus Owia Stars; Bequia Combined takes on Eat Rite Saints and OLA Boutique Radcliffe taking on The News Spartans.(RT)
