Imperial reaches BCL Knock Out Semi Finals

Vincentian Cricket Club Imperial, which is based in Brooklyn, New York, last Saturday secured a semi final spot the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL) Knock Out Competition.{{more}}

Imperial had a relatively comfortable win over Diplomats in the last of the quarter finals.

Diplomats batted first and made 189. Bowling for Imperial, Clarence Wyllie took 3 for 28.

Imperial lost seven wickets in over hauling the target. Kester Sylvester led the way with 66.

This win earned Imperial a match against the 2008 knockout champs, a meeting this Saturday against Panthers.

While one semis match will be played this Saturday, the other was already played last Saturday between another Vincentian team Middlesex and Grenada.

Middlesex won the toss and inserted Grenada.

Grenada scored 180 all out from 32 overs. Kevin George made 38, Leonard James struck 34 and Gregory Anthony hit 22. Bowling for Middlesex Captain Mark Audain took 3 for 49, Casper Davis, 2 for 27, and Dominic Audain, 2 for 16. Middlesex was penalized for slow over rate and was given 29 overs to bat.

At their turn at the crease, Middlesex got to 152 for 7 in the allotted time.

SVG and Windward Islands batsman Donwell Hector continues to perform well with 56, which included two 6’s, and five 4’s. Davis made 24. Grenada won by 28 runs.

Kelly Payne took 4 for 26.

In this their first season, Middlesex had 14 wins, 6 losses, 2 rained out matches and got to the semifinals in both League and Knock Out Competitions.

Donwell Hector and Casper Davis led the averages with Hector scoring 779 runs, including three centuries with an average of 70.88. Casper Davis, 31 Wickets at 10.97 average, Dominic Audain, 33 wickets at 12.66, and Mark Audain, 27 wickets at 14.88.

October 3 is the date set for 2008 knockout champs Imperial to meet 2008 League champs Punjab as they attempt to do the double. Marine Park is the venue for this clash of the champs. (RT)
