Defending Masters Cricket Champions stutter

Defending National Masters Cricket champions Tropical Shipping Masters stuttered last weekend, losing to London Masters by 39 runs.{{more}}

London Masters were 140 for 6 off 15 overs, with Brendon Child, 29, Brenson John, 20, and Kurt De Souza, 20, being the main scorers. Ricky Thomas took 2 for 16.

Stubbs Masters got to 101 for 5 off 15 overs. Alvin Thomas made 37 and Vincent Benjamin, 27 not out.

Child, 2 for 5, and Selwyn Lavia, 2 for 12, were the most successful bowlers for London Masters.

Sion Hill Masters posted 114 for 5 off 20 overs. Colbert McDonald struck 32 and Albert Samuel, 21. Rohan King took 2 for 8 and Sylvanus Morgan, 2 for 29, bowling for Computec Belfongo Masters who replied with 115 for 2 off 16.2 overs.

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 player Peter Campbell made 54 not out and Cleus Robinson hit 27 not out.

North Leeward Masters defeated Joyette’s Auto Slater Development Pastures Masters by 35 runs. North Leeward Masters compiled 110 for 6 off 20 overs, with the prolific Orville Franklyn making 47. Jomo Thomas captured 4 wickets for 8 runs. Joyette’s Auto Slater Development Pastures Masters made 75 all out. Brian Jocelyn, 3 for 10, and Charles Burke, 2 for 12, bowling for North Leeward.

In another fixture, Police Masters scored 94 for 7 off their 20 overs Elgin Richards was the topscorer as Jimmy Sam grabbed 3 for 4, while Joseph Medford and Hollis John took two wickets each.

Log Enterprises Kingstown Masters advanced to 96 for 7. Richards captured 3 for 16 and Elvis Browne took 2 for 8, but in a losing cause.

And, St.Vincent Cooperative Bank P’tani Masters defeated C.K. Greaves Vintage Arnos Vales by six wickets. C.K Greaves Vintage Arnos Vale Masters crawled 79 for 7 off 19 overs. Elvis Charles was the beacon with 37, .Jerome Samuel snared 3 for 14 and Adolphus Campbell, 2 for 12. P’tani Masters cantered 80 for 4, with Samuel putting in a good all round performance, making 26 not out. Elvis Woods took 3 for 17. (RT)
