Andrews joins in the century parade

Donson Andrews hit century number eight of the 2009 National Cricket Programme.

The heavy set Andrews struck a belligerent 133 to lead Victors One’s batting at the Sion Hill Playing Field as they reached 246 for seven, innings completed, against front runners, the News Spartans, in the RBTT Premier Division.{{more}}

Andrews dotted his innings with 11 fours and 4 sixes to become the fifth player to reach triple figures in the Premier Division for this season. He was assisted by his opening partner Atticus Browne, who made 36, as Victors only fielded eight players on Saturday. Teran Simon took 3 for 41, bowling for Spartans, who in reply reached 223, to lose on first innings. Krishna Da Silva 60, Dawnley Joseph scored 39, Micah Joseph 31, Nixon Mc Lean 26 and Kissinger Mc Lean 25.

Donwell Hector 2 for 5, Zimron Providence 2 for 21, Alston Bobb 2 for 39 and Keiron Cottoy 2 for 84 were the successful bowlers for Victors One.

And, batting a second time, Victors One was 72 for 2, with Browne making 39.

Also in the Premier Division, Victors Two gained first innings points over Eat Rite Saints at Arnos Vale Two. Victors Two scored 274 for 8 declared. Rawdon Bentick struck 70, Renaldo Coombs 51, Kurton Lavia 48, Kevin Abraham 46, and Javid Harry 35. Walford Ambris took 4 for 70, Kentish Jacobs 2 for 44, and Ted Roberts 2 for 57.

Saints in reply scored 127. Sunil Ambris made 51. Harry bagged 7 for 30.

Asked to follow on, Saints was 195 for 5, when play ended. Ambris hit his second half century in the match with 71; Kishore Shallow made 62 not out, and Amreal Bobb 32. Harry snared 3 for 38, to finish with match analysis of 10 for 68.

In the Bottlers First Division, Belmont United gained first innings points, from BMC Agencies Matthias United.

Shayne Alexander belted 70, Leon Quashie 51 and Andrew Bramble 21, as Matthias United tallied 165. Basil Andrews took 3 for 16 and Jerome Samuel 3 for 41, bowling for Belmont.

In response, Belmont overhauled the total, reaching 168. Troy John made 34, Nelvorn Andrews 30 and Troy Harry 26, as Tarik Mc Neil took 3 for 24, Kelroy Warner 2 for 14,and Uroy Simmons 2 for 35, bowling for Matthias United.

The other scheduled match saw ASCO One winning by default from Unique Warriors. (RT)
