Skerritt, Small, Joseph hit centuries

Three centuries were the highlights of last weekend’s matches in the RBTT Premier Division of the national Cricket Programme.{{more}}

Harley Skerritt and Marvin Small led the way for defending champion MVC Rivals, as they posted 262 for 1 declared against Eat Rite Saints.

Skerritt hit 133 not out, and Small, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 Captain, an even 100 not out.

The left handed Skerritt’s innings was cluttered with 13 fours and a six, with Small lacing 11 fours and a maximum.

Saints replied with 118. Kishore Shallow made 33 and Walford Ambris 28 not out. Orlanzo Jackson bagged 5 for 27 and Roland Wilkinson, 5 for 45. Batting a second time, Saints reached 127 for 9, with Shallow again topscoring with 54. Jackson, 4 for 31, and national Under-15 Captain Kadier Nedd, 2 for 27.

Joining in the century party was veteran player Dawnley Joseph, who stroked 110 versus Victors Two.

Joseph, hitting his second century for the season, dotted his knock with 10 fours and a six, as the News Spartans posted 198 for 7 declared. Joseph’s son Dawnley Grant chipped in with 25. Darry Roberts took 3 for 24, and Renaldo Coombs, 2 for 67.

Spartans was responding to Victors Two’s first innings of 78. Kevin Abraham made 28 and Alliston Tesheira, 25. Nixon Mc Lean, 4 for 8, and Sherwin Mapp, 3 for 7.

In their second innings, Victors Two made 120. Javed Harry hit 34. Teran Simon, 4 for 34, bowling for Spartans. Needing one run to win, Victors Two forfeited, giving Spartans full points and maintaining their reign at the top of the standings.

Also recording full points was Victors One, who whipped Police Two by nine wickets.

Police Two was shot out for 93. Konnard Adams was the top wicket taker for Victors One, with 6 for 43, Keiron Cottoy, 2 for 2, and Nolan Williams, 2 for 33.

Victors One responded with 217. Alston Bobb struck 63, and Williams, 53 not out. Elmore Alexander took 4 for 59, Kenroy Martin, 2 for 31 and Uroy Farrell, 2 for 65.

Police’s second knock, saw them posting 178. Salvan Browne led the way with 58, and Martin, 33. Cottoy was the pick of the bowlers, with 8 for 55, and Bobb, 2 for 38.

Victors one made 55 for 1, in a successful run chase.
