Unit One, W & J Construction on the double in Calliaqua

Unit One and W&J Construction, both recorded back to back wins in last weekend’s matches, of the Dr. Linton Lewis CADO 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition at the Calliaqua Playing Field.{{more}}

Unit One thrashed New Dynamic Girls by nine wickets. New Dynamic Girls was shot out for 35. Troy Harry bagged 5 for 14. Unit One replied with 41 for 1, with Felix Greaves making 25 not out.

They then returned to melt S G De Freitas by 47 runs. Batting first Unit One posted 161 for 4. Greaves was again the topscorer, this time hitting 67 not out. Calvert Richards made 34 and Harry, 24.

Charlie Thomas took 2 for 34, bowling for S G De Freitas, who were dismissed for 114. Cauldric Laidlow made 25 and Dehron Maloney 20. Desmond Plaugh took 2 for 13.

And W&J Construction had a hard fought 10-run triumph over Old Trafford.

Taking first strike, W&J Construction compiled 142. Lawerence Shoy hit 67 and Raultie Lowe 38.

Old Trafford fell short, reaching 132 in reply. Hamlett Baptiste made 27, with Kenny Stapleton and Ronald Medford, both hitting 19. William Ash grabbed 4 for 20.

W&J Construction completed their happy weekend with a 60-run win at the expense of Karaoke Groovers.

Lowe 33, and Shoy 32, led W& J Construction’s batting, as they totalled 144. Nigel Stowe was the Groovers’ top bowler with 4 for 21 and Rolston Nanton chipped in with 2 for 22.

The Groovers was then dismissed for 84. Terrence Patterson hit 44. Ash took 4 for 14, bowling for the winners. (RT)
