Keartons triumphs in NLA Barrouallie 20/20 Softball Cricket Final


Home team Keartons United won the final of the National Lotteries Authorities Barrouallie 20/20, when they defeated Somerset by 27 runs last Saturday, at the Keartons Playing Field.{{more}}

Keartons United 107 for 9, was a total team effort, with six of their batsmen reaching double figures, but they failed to go on.

Maxian Richardson, with an aggressive 23, which included three sixes, was the most productive with the bat.

Ralmore Pierre with 3 for 13 and Kennard Edwards with 3 for 26 were the top bowlers for Somerset.

Somerset’s response was slow but steady and they were well placed at 42 for 1 after 10 overs. However, with the introduction of Embourne Toppin in the 11th over, things went awry for them. Toppin engineered the collapse, to be all out for 70 in the 19th over.

Toppin had figures of 6 for 13 from his 4 overs, which earned him the Most Valuable Player of the Finals award.

Only Kevin Small with 27 and Lemuel Browne with 10 managed to reach double figures.

Keartons United pocketed $1,200 and the championship trophy, while Somerset took away with $700 and the runner-up trophy.

In the Female Division, Super Strikers was first and Attackers Girls, second.

The Masters Division was won by Zero Masters with Boxer Masters taking the second place. Young Jokers took the Under-17 title, and Stew Yam was the runner-up.

Thirty-two teams participated in this year’s competition which was played in four divisions and lasted for two months. Games were played on both the Keartons and Barrouallie Playing Fields.
